The entry-level LX and S trims come with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine with an output of 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated with a smooth and responsive 8-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive as standard. All-wheel drive is available on select trims for better capability in tricky road conditions.
On the EX and up, you’ll get a more powerful 2.5L turbo-four engine and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The turbocharged powertrain puts out an incredible 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque: perfect for fun, spirited drives. The Sorento’s towing capacity starts at 2,000 pounds, with 3,500 pounds of muscle available in higher trims. The most capable Sorento is the X-Pro SX Prestige trim, which offers 4,500 pounds of towing power.
Interior Space and Flexibility
The Sorento’s seven-passenger cabin is flexible, allowing you to accommodate both passengers and cargo. You’ll get 41.4 inches of legroom up front, 41.7 inches in the second row, and 29.6 inches in the third row. Behind the rear seats, there’s 12.6 cubic feet of cargo space to work with. This increases to 38.5 cubic feet with the third-row seats stowed and 75.5 cubic feet with all the rear seats folded.
In-Vehicle Technology
A 12.3-inch touchscreen display serves as the infotainment system on all the trims. It offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it easy to stream content, stay connected, and get directions on the screen. SiriusXM satellite radio is also included, while a Wi-Fi hotspot and built-in navigation are available. You’ll also find several USB ports for device charging, a 6-speaker audio system, and an optional wireless charger.
The Sorento also comes with advanced safety tech that keeps you protected on the road. All models feature a forward collision-avoidance assist system that can automatically brake the vehicle to prevent a frontal collision. The base LX features comfortable cloth seats, while all the other trims upgrade to leatherette seats for a more premium feel.
